Produced by Hit-Boy, “Deep Reverence” was first previewed in March 2020 during his beat battle with Boi-1da. Hussle starts off the cut with the hard-hitting line “F*ck rap, I’m a street legend,” and the two drop verses narrating their quests of breaking the mold and making something of themselves while helping their communities.

The single is set to appear on Big Sean’s upcoming album Detroit 2, the successor to his 2012 mixtape Detroit. The project will drop September 4 — almost eight years to the date of its predecessor — and is his first full-length release since 2017’s I Decided.

“I’ve been going back listening to music that impacted me growing up, you know, songs I hear on the radio every day but I didn’t even realize was only popping in Detroit,” the rapper said in the album’s announcement trailer. “It feels like a whole new energy in the city, you know? It’s inspiring to watch — to the point it inspired me to go harder than ever. It’s like the phoenix rising out the ashes.”

The first single from the album, “Deep Reverence,” was released Monday night, featuring the late Nipsey Hussle.

“Detroit 2″ will be Big Sean’s first solo studio album since “I Decided” in 2017, his second No. 1 album and was certified platinum by RIAA.Big Sean did release a song in 2019 titled “Single Again,” which featured a Detroit shot music video, including Local 4.

Los Angeles, Aug 25 (PTI) Rapper Big Sean has announced that his much-awaited fifth album ‘Detroit 2’ is scheduled to be released on September 4.The 32-year-old musician, whose real name is Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, shared the release date of his album on Twitter.

The new album is a follow up to Sean''s 2012 ‘Detroit’ mixtape and is his first LP since 2017’s ‘I Decided’.Sean had announced in March that he will be dropping a new album in 2020.The California-native released his first studio album ‘Finally Famous’ in 2011 and followed it up with ‘Hall of Fame’ (2013), ‘Dark Sky Paradise’ (2015) and ‘I Decided’ (2017).

He has also released four mixed tapes ‘Finally Famous Vol. 1: The Mixtape’ (2007), ‘Finally Famous Vol. 2: UKNOWBIGSEAN’ (2009), ‘Finally Famous Vol. 3: BIG’ (2010) and ‘Detroit’ (2012). The Def Jam/Good Music album is a sequel of sorts to the 2012 mixtape "Detroit," and will arrive nearly eight years to the day after that record's release.

The Detroit star, born Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, posted several images from a studio Sunday evening, declaring that he was "finally done recording" the new album and was on to mixing.

"Detroit 2" will be Big Sean's first solo full-length since 2017's "I Decided," his third platinum-seller since breaking out in 2011 with "Finally Famous."

Few other details about the forthcoming album were disclosed Monday, though Big Sean did unveil a line of "Detroit 2"-themed merchandise at his online store — including a branded face mask.
